[Even the knock sounds enthusiastic, or maybe Guren is just hearing things? He's not sure, but when he opens the door to see Dextera as excited as he is, a surprised laugh slips out, and his eyes flick down to that bag.]

Is that the good news? [What is it, what's going on! Also he's moving out of the way to let Dextera in.]

[ dextera never gets to do nice things for guren, it feels like. guren is always the one taking care of him, showing him new things, and after spilling their hearts to each other recently, dextera feels like this is the perfect way to make up for all the trouble he’s caused.

he’s even being cute about it, hiding the bag from view until he’s properly inside and has a table to rest it on. it sounds like… plastic! and liquid! dextera glances over his shoulder to make sure guren isn’t peeking, and then he slowly turns around to reveal this very exciting prize!! a two-liter of cola!!!! there’s still another one in the bag, but this is enough to get the message across.

he’s making this face for sure. ]

[What the fuck how is he so cute?? Guren doesn't know what to expect. He doesn't know that it's anything for him, specifically, or what it could possibly be at all. He hasn't seen a 2-liter in years.

So, Dextera can enjoy genuine surprise on his face as he stares at it.]

Cola? [Oh my god. How— the wishes, right? It couldn't just be a reward. Dextera didn't know anything about cola, and their drink rewards had been warm and cozy, last time. Guren steps closer like it's hard to believe, reaching out to hold onto it as he stares at that ridiculously happy face Dextera is making.]

Did you wish for this?

[ fuck yeah he wished for it!!!

dextera isn’t good at wishing. minato tried to teach him how, when the stars first began to come out, but it’s hard to come up with something when he knows it’ll have real results, real consequences. so he wished for something he knew would make someone happy, once he got the inspiration for it.

he nods. ]

For you. [ signed so quickly it’s almost, almost unintelligible. he’s never been so excited? it’s something small, but giving gifts feels incredible. ]

[Almost, but Guren understands. Who else would it be for? His free hand rests at the top of Dextera's head and ruffles a bit.]

Hahaha. You're too much... Why the hell would you use something so useful on something like this? [He says this, but he's grinning, and he can't bring himself to even fake sounding angry. Give him this bottle, he's taking it to the counter in the kitchen.]

That means you get to try some with me. [...He's trying it first, just in case, but if the alcohol from the well was fine, this probably will be, too.]

[ dextera knows other people wished for things from home, or important supplies of things they didn’t have, but there’s nothing like that for him. all the things from his world are unwanted, and he has no need for toiletries or medication. this seemed just fine.

he trails after guren, honestly curious about what it could taste like. he doesn’t even know what a fizzy drink looks like, let alone feels like in his mouth. ]

Two bottles. Enough?

[ it’s not like he had a choice, but… ]

I would have been happy with just a glass. Come here.

[Just in case Dextera doesn't like it, he'll pull out two glasses but fill up just one of them first. The first part is exciting, though!! He hopes Dextera didn't throw these around. So, he holds it carefully and opens the cap for that satisfying fizz noise.

LIKE IT??? He likes it. Anyway, he's pouring a glass now, and there's bubbles. What a wild time.]

[ dextera is… captivated. he’s not a bumpkin from the past, so he knows what carbonation is, scientifically, but it still feels exciting to watch something fizz up like this. it’s almost like it’s alive, but that’s a weird thought he’s not going to share.

instead, he crouches, eye-level with the glass so he can watch the head of it form, the minuscule bubbles bouncing around near the rim of the glass. delightful! ]

[ he touches his own mouth, curious. how did it get that dark color? he’s been noticing the color of things a lot more, in the absence of so much of it in this town. ]

[swordfucker]

[This is his favorite thing today, the rest of today will be great. He smiles down at Dextera, taking the glass to take a sip before he even answers anything like that. This is definitely just normal cola, and it's not even hot. Thank god.

He hands the glass out to Dextera, inviting.]

It's still junk food, so it's not that good for you, but it's nice to have on occasion. It's sweet. Here, try some.

[ dextera takes the glass, holding it reverently, since he knows this is something guren adores and it’s nice of him to share. he almost rejects it, but it’s a moment he wants to have. trying new things—that’s one of his delights, here in the town. ]

…?

[ out of habit, he sniffs it first, and some of the fizz pretty instantly gets up his nose. he turns away, covering his mouth, and there’s a sound that’s probably a sneeze?! luckily, nothing spills. ]

[Oh my god, he has to cover his mouth to try and stop himself from laughing. It's not working... Dextera. Dextera.]

[ STOP BULLYING

dextera presses the back of his hand to his nose to try to suppress the tickle, but the damage is already done. guren is laughing at him! ]

Nngh…

[ he’ll be fine! he shakes it off, and looks at the cola with a renewed vigor. he’s still excited to try it, but now it sort of feels like something to conquer.

his mouth overlaps about halfway with the imprint of guren’s lips on the glass, and his first impression is that—it hurts? and then he realizes it’s not pain, just fizz, and something very sweet. it’s an electric mix of sensations, and his eyes widen slightly. ]

[Guren looks proud, now that he's done laughing, dropping his hand away and watching him try it. He's definitely a little too focused on the indirect kiss thing, which he's shoving away from the back of his mind and scolding himself for, but beyond that... it's just a cute reaction.]

So, what do you think?

[ dextera doesn’t know what he thinks.

it’s addictive? he wants to keep drinking it, even though it’s not nearly as refreshing as plain water, but the carbonation makes it interesting. he’s like an animal… entertained by the smallest things. ]

[ he doesn’t say anything, but both hands are holding the glass now, and he takes a pointedly longer drink. he did get hot chocolate from a quest—maybe it’s becoming obvious that he has a sweet tooth. ]

[...He's going to share cola with Dextera as much as he can with these bottles. Before it goes flat, too...]

I'm gonna take that as you like it. Just let me know if you want some more. [So, he'll go ahead and pour some in the other glass, picking it up to take a nice long drink as well. He missed!! Cola!!!]

[ dextera watches guren as he drinks his present. it’s weird, incredibly sweet and fizzy, but it’s nice, too—he’s surprised that it’s guren’s favorite, even if he shouldn’t be. ]

Happy?

[ look at him, fishing for compliments... he can’t humbly give a gift. ]

[swordfucker]

[He's precious, and as Guren lets out a refreshed exhale, he laughs at that questioning.]

Isn't that obvious? You can tell when I'm happy, so why do I have to tell you? [But he's grinning, and he nudges Dextera with his elbow, playfully.]

Thank you. Seriously. But if you get one of those things again, use it on something important, instead.

[ a little smile, when guren nudges him, and... he’s already drained the glass of cola. his throat burns a little, actually, and it feels weird in his stomach, but the taste was good and he wants more.

not like he’s going to ask for that! ]

This is important.

[ how could guren expect him to say anything else? ]

[What does he say to that. It's so stupid, so sweet, that he doesn't know what to do with himself. His free hand presses to his own face, now, trying to hide the way he's grinning about it all. It's... nice. It feels nice.]

Yeah, yeah, I get it.

[His hand drops away, and he quite literally waves off that topic after another sip of his cola. He'll offer Dextera more soon enough. For now, he's just glad that that party didn't make Dextera feel weird about spending time with him.

He'd been a little worried.]

[ his excitement, of course, may have had a hand in that—he already said that he doesn’t like coming over here, especially uninvited, but here he is anyway. trying to make guren happy outweighs all of that, and he’s glad to have been able to do it.

he just likes guren. ]

Next, curry.

[ he remembers what guren likes—and it sounds silly, maybe, to wish on a well for a plate of curry, but it’s still true that dextera doesn’t need a thing.

this, however, is said a little playfully. ]

Don't you dare.

[He says it with a grin, or a smirk, really, stepping closer when they're already quite close. He's drawn to him, he can't help it, and it would be so easy to place a hand at Dextera's waist and bring them even closer, talk just like that.

But he remembers himself, and sets his empty glass of cola to the side, turning as he does to break that sudden tension he just created.]

Save it for something you want. Do you want more cola?

[ dextera reads it in the air even so. there’s something, for a moment, between them—and he anticipates a touch that never comes. it surprises him, though he’s not sure if he’s surprised at the desire or the lack of contact.

for now, he just nods, ducking closer to the bottles and holding his glass out. it’s guren’s glass, really, that he just kind of stole, but it’s also his now. ]

Sweet. [ duh, but it’s just an observation ] I like sweet.

[swordfucker]

...Then this stuff was made for you.

[He'll pour him another glass, and he'll pour himself one, too. Might as well, since he's so god damn thirsty— I mean, he needs something to do with his hands, and holding a glass works.]

So, how are you feeling? Everything going okay? [He's not filling silence at all. He's leaning back against this counter and definitely not staring across the room and just repeatedly glancing back at Dex for peeks.]

[ yeah it’s totally not obvious at all that he’s just trying to avoid any awkward silences. dextera sips the cola, glancing over at guren once he’s asked about… such a normal, daily question as his health? ]

…“positive.” [ and he laughs, just a little. ] Aren’t you?

Yeah. I'm the positivity prince, remember?

[A short laugh, and then a long drink of his cola. Mm, it's refreshing, but he wants to save some for later. Spread it out a little, for as long as it'll last carbonated. For however many times he can share it with Dex.

He's very aware that he came over to his house for this, and he's still touched. But... he's not sure if he should suggest they go up to his room. What does it have? His laptop, a bunch of random items he's gained, like that embroidery...

...He takes another slow drink.]
